Winter Wedding Invitation Inspiration

Happy December everyone! We swear it was just yesterday that we were raking leaves in the backyard and now we’re listening to holiday tunes while making our December to-do lists. This time of year is for getting together with friends and family and celebrating the joy of the season. All of the warm cozy feelings of the holidays have us dreaming up fun and festive winter inspired invitation designs, perfect for any wedding this time of year!

We love the idea of using beautiful foil colors to highlight seasonal motifs like stars and snowflakes, providing tons of sparkle and warmth to a wintery design.

Using neutral colors (think metallics, grays, and taupes!) and playing around with calligraphy or gorgeous script fonts can really set the tone for the big day. Don’t be afraid to add in some pattern and flourishes to create even more visual interest!

Taking cues from nature is never a bad idea and we love how these whimsical trees add an element of fun to this design.

Using a crisp color palette and bold fonts can really make a statement!

We love the idea of adding some pizzazz to your stationery, setting the mood for the vibrant celebration to come! Feel free to also break away from a neutral color palette and have some fun!

A blind printed pattern of snow will really soften the design and create the gentle, peaceful feeling of winter.

We all decorate our homes with various trimmings this time of year so why not add textural embellishments like belly bands to your design? We love a gorgeous laser cut pattern or a cloth band, adding loads of warmth to a classic design.

back to school?!!!

This weekend is this weekend. And next is Labor Day weekend.

Crazy but true. I have looked at the calendar three times today to be sure that I am not losing my mind. You all don’t seem very phased though… coming in to the shop and picking up all of our notepads and agendas and fun erasers… and goodies to decorate your dorm rooms with (oh, how I miss the days of decorating my dorm room!)

I’m glad you’re all pumped though, because in truth, I am too! While it totally freaks me out that summer flew by so quickly, it makes me infinitely happy to think about sweater weather.  I love sweater weather more than most anything else in life!

A good sign of the approach of back-to-school in the shop is our calendar and agenda selection. We want to help you keep things pretty in the office and on the work table, and so we’ve collected a whole lot of new lovely in the time tracking department to make your lives easier.

I’ve been raving about our new Russell & Hazel agendas on facebook all week (and a great new use for washi tape that pairs planning and pretty – what more could you ask for?!) We also have a fun assortment of Jonathan Adler agendas and Bob’s Your Uncle perpetual agendas in full desktop and smaller pocket sizes.

And for those of you anticipating a bit of text book wrapping in the next few weeks, we have so many beautiful new wrap sheets, including patterns from Belle & Union, Rifle Paper Co. and Fig 2. Designs! Swing by and we can help you pick a bunch of coordinating sheets, and assist in the physical book wrapping. Now that’s one stop shopping, if you ask me! 🙂

Alright, I have to get back to the custies! Hope you’re all enjoying the weekend, and cannot wait to ee you around the shop soon.

All our love (and oodles of exciting well-wishes to you on the start of the new school year – kids and Moms & Dads alike!)
XO Lizzy

Morning pals!

Liz here.
Long time no talk. How have you all been?
Things have been nutty crazy BANANAS busy here at the shop. That’s right. Bananas.

While meeting and greeting all of you lovelies when you come to visit, I’ve also been buzzing around re-merchandising the shop and wanted to share a few bright and lovely newbies with ya. Heck, maybe you’ll even get two product-related blog posts out of me this week. You lucky ducks! 😉

The company I’d like to share with you today is Fig. 2 Designs. I fell in love with just about everything Claudia had on her website last year, just before the holiday. Plus with neon and foil stamping trending big time in the stationery world, it was a sure fire bet that she’d be a great fit in the shop. We started off carrying just a small assortment of her chevron patterned gift tags and foil stamped notecards, but this year at the National Stationery Show Claudia launched some of the most fun and colorful goods we’d ever seen! Her gift wrap sheets make my heart go pitter-pat, and I LOVE her new watercolor stained notecards.

Wouldn’t these patterns be so fun to use as book covers for the kids textbooks this year? Or to wrap around some old tin cans and use for pencils and school supplies at their desk?

Not to mention she launched some pretty hilarious new greeting cards that make her line a great one-stop shopping spot for us! A little bit of laughs and lovely certainly does the Gus & Ruby gang good!
Can’t wait to see what Miss. Claudia has up her sleeve for holiday 2012 🙂
Talk soon!!!!
